Koala came together in the Spring of 2008 in Boston, Massachusetts by college friends while attending Berklee College of Music. The band consists of James Krivchenia, Mike Simonelli, Kenyon Kowal, and Orion Boucher. Their first EP was self-recorded and self-released in Winter of 2009. Following the release of this EP the band played in various venues and festivals in the northeast. The band’s music is primarily instrumental rock but is a hybrid of many different genres. Koala have experimented with different instrumentation, compositional and recording techniques.
